I was a former endurance runner and trail runner. It just happened one day I wanted to scrub fat and increase endurance. I started walking then fast walking on a tread mill and worked the elevation up and down speed it up and slow it down. I didn’t like the tread mill so I tried jogging on the road then I changed to ground and trail I liked it. Either way I started slow and it wasn’t long before I went from walking to jogging then running. When I trained I would do what I called silly running and run on the side of hills one way and then the other. All the time I would run as fast as I could then slow down for a while then stop and start running at full speed, giving my heart a good work out. The most important training I did was running longer and as far as I could every day. Mine mind was the hardest thing I had to get right because of boredom.
I lifted weights in the morning and ran 8 to 10 hours a day for almost a year ( I took about a year break from work ). I wore different brands of shoes like Nike, Asics and adidas but I liked puma and had their shorts that had little pockets in them for salt and glucose tablets.
My first race was in a town not far from my home. The night before there were terrible storms with tornado warning the sirens went off a lot it was exciting. I ate mostly potatoes the night before because I wanted to store carbs and bread based breakfast. The next day they had the race which was a 10k over a mountain. They warned us that the trails were ruff. There were over 200 runners some pros and me, the people there were different then I imagined I watched what they did, after the night before excitement and I was at my first race.
I got signed in and got my number and I started noticing a lot of ambulance and rescue there. I never did pre race stretches because you hurt your leg muscles when you do. I did do short sprints to get my heart warmed up. I don’t remember what place I started at but it wasn’t first probably last. So we started and when you start you have to follow a lot of people on a skinny trail until it widens out. Some people didn’t do that and fell of the trail and down the mountain a lot of broke and sprained legs. There were tree that fell down I had to hop over loose rocks and mud. I got to my check point and got something to drink.
I didn’t know how I was doing but I do remember helicopters there having to air lift people to the hospital and rescue people all over the place getting the people that fell down the mountain. Once again it was exciting with all this going on I just chuged on though the woods. When I trained I wore a head set but when I raced I didn’t wear anything I just listen to the sound of my feet and kept pace. I sounded like a train chugging going though the woods with my breathing I was like a machine. At the finish I believe I came in 76th which was fine I did finish and it was my first race. I felt great that I accomplished it. From then on I was hooked on racing. I ran a lot more races made friends, got sponsors lost and won races and had great fun.
I did all this as a raw vegan and I believe it gave me an advantage over meat eaters.

Can exercise help with depression?
I’m not a doctor but exercise helps with my depression I’m not clinical but I do get slight depression. Exercise gives me a goal to achieve and makes me feel better about myself when I accomplish it. Depending on the severity of your depression. It takes about a month of regular exercise to see results. Some psychiatrist believe exercise is a natural way to fight depression and can reduce or end drugs for treating it. It also reduces anxiety exercise is good for you mind and body. Just walking can reduce stress and clear your mind. Fifteen to thirty minutes of Leo intense exercise 3 to 5 times a week is great for your body and mind.
Home exercise is a good low intense exercise along with a stroll in your neighborhood or park. There are so many ways to get off the couch and get a little exercise why not try a few out and see what works for you.
Great outdoor exercise
I love spring and summer because of all the outdoor activities there are. Some are baseball, softball, tennis, swimming, hiking and golf. If your on a team it is great, I’m not so I golf and hike. Walking and jogging in summer because the of the wildlife.
Fall and winter activities like skiing, football and outdoor hockey, are some of the popular outdoor activities. Depending on where you live and your favorite outdoor activities I only touched on a few. Maybe you can give me hints on outdoor activities?
Work week exercise
Working, exercise and going to the gym. That is a challenge to over come, one option is working out at home. Your work schedule plays an important part in your work out schedule. Some people work nights, afternoon and day. I have done all of them the key is do you want to work out before or after work, before is a good option because you are rested and have more energy stored up. A big plus to before is it does increase your energy level to get your before work energy going. Some people do better after work because they have to relieve stress, I think you have to find what works for you better. But what ever you choose consistency is what is important what ever your goals are. Try to at least go three times a week if possible, weekend is also an option. Some people like to get most of their exercise in during the week and take the weekend off for them.
Better be real important!
If it’s interfering with a goal of mine the answer is no. My goals are what keeps me going and fights depression for me, as long as I have a goal I’m working towards I’m happy. It has to be very important to get me away from a goal.
Internet
Internet gives me a quick way to look up information and marketing. The one problem with it the information may not be correct and 50 million other people are marketing what you are. So there is a good and bad to the internet I still like the old way of doing the two and do go to the library so times.
Everyone
Who was your most influential teacher? Why?
Anyone that can get me to pay attention is a good teacher. I can’t pin point one In particular that I can think of, I didn’t like going to school and I didn’t like studying much. In college I read books mostly so they were my teacher. So I guess I would say books are my influential teacher.
Vegan
Seems like when people hear vegan they only think about diet but that is a small part of it. Diet is about not eating or using animal products but some vegans do it for health that is a very important reason to not eat animals. I am one now for animals, health and life, I am about life and believe I don’t have the right to take another life. I wish I had realized that earlier in life. I don’t tell people I’m vegan I just eat plants or I don’t eat meat.
Memory
Its small but I wish I could remember people’s name and faces. I guess I could if I tried but I really just don’t consider it that important. So I wish I had a skill that I could remember things easy without having to work my mind to do it.
Spring
Spring weather is what I like most. I like sunny and mild temps I know there is a lot of rain. The grey is turning back green, I can plant flowers and a garden. I just like mild temperature with sun.
